National airline of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines is planning to auction some Airbus A321 out of its fleet. The airline is hoping to generate decent revenue out of the deal.
Vietnam Airlines to auction Airbus A321
The airline will put three Airbus A321 aircraft on sale. The one, who bids the highest gets the aircraft. The airline has decided the starting price of each aircraft to be $5 million each.
The airline is recovering strongly from the COVID pandemic. Recently, it started daily flights to London Heathrow Airport and also boosted its presence in Australia.
Details of the to be auctioned aircraft
The 3 Airbus A321 to be auctioned are :
This airframe MSN 2974 is 16.6 years old. On 8 January 2007, the airline received delivery of this aircraft.
This airframe MSN 3005 is 16.5 years old. In January 2007, Vietnam Airlines received delivery of this aircraft. From 2009 to 2014, Cambodia Angkor Air leased it for 6 years. In 2014, Angkor Air returned it to Vietnam Airlines.
This airframe MSN 3013 is 16.5 years old. Vietnam Airlines received delivery of this aircraft in January 2007.
All these aircraft are powered by IAE engines and have the same configuration. They have configured these aircraft with 184 seats in a 2-cabin configuration, consisting of 16 Business class seats and 168 Economy class seats.
The airline is aiming to generate around $15 million by selling these aircraft.
However, this is not the first time that the airline has put aircraft on auction. In 2020, the airline put 5 Airbus A321s. In 2021, it sold 11 more Airbus A321s.
Till date, the airline has auctioned all 16 Airbus A321s it returned.
