Vietnamese Low Cost Carrier VietJet Air has added its 4th destination and 7th route in its Indian network. The airline yesterday launched direct services between Ho Chi Minh City International Airport and Kochi International Airport. VN-A656, an Airbus A320 operated the inaugural flight. VietJet will now operate 4X weekly on this route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The airline is deploying its 180 seater Airbus A320-200 aircraft on this route.

The addition of this route in VietJet’s network will give tourists from Southern India a new opportunity to explore the bustling markets, economic landmarks and mouthwatering cuisine of Vietnam. Tourists from Vietnam can experience the stunning landscapes and diverse culture of Kerala. This route is expected to unveil new opportunities related to trade and economic exchanges.
VJ India Operations
This new Kochi route is the 7th Indian route of the airline. Apart from this, the airline operates on this routes :
- Delhi to Hanoi
- Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City
- Mumbai to Hanoi
- Mumbai to Ho Chi Minh City
- Ahmedabad to Hanoi
- Ahmedabad to Ho Chi Minh City
The airline totally dominates India to Vietnam market. The other airlines operating in this market are Vietnam Airlines and IndiGo.
Vietnam Airlines operates total 14 times weekly from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Delhi and Mumbai. Meanwhile, IndiGo connects Kolkata to both Vietnamese cities with daily flights. On the other hand, VietJet Air operates to 4 Indian cities with 32X weekly flights.
This is 4 more than added flights of IndiGo and Vietnam Airlines. Vietnam to India market is an underserved market. It just does not make sense for airline like IndiGo to not enter in this market. After Jet Airways exit in 2019, not a single Indian carrier has taken Vietnam market seriously.
