Turkey-based airline SunExpress has also made an appearance in the Dubai Air Show 2023 with a big order of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The airline has placed a firm order of 45 Boeing 737 MAX jets along 45 options.
SunExpress orders Boeing 737 MAX
The Boeing 737 MAX order of SunExpress consists of 28 Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets & 17 Boeing 737 MAX 10 jets. Along with this, the airline signed for 45 options, which it can exercise any time in future as per its needs. SunExpress has placed a firm order for 45 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2035. The approximate value of the order is $5 billion.
With this order, the airline plans to double its fleet into the next decade. SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki stated that the airline will use this new aircraft to achieve new heights in the international market segment. By 2033, the company plans to have a fleet of 150 aircraft. This new order is follow up on the previous one in which the airline placed an order of 42 Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets. Out of these, 11 have been delivered to the airline.
About 737 MAX
SunExpress has ordered 2 variants of the Boeing 737 MAX – MAX 8 & MAX 10. The MAX 8 has a seating capacity of 162 to 200 passengers depending on configuration of the airline. It has a range of 3,500 nautical miles.
On the other hand, Boeing 737 MAX 10 is the extended version which has reduced range of 3,100 nautical miles. The Boeing 737 MAX reduces fuel usage and carbon emissions by 20 percent with respect to the previous Boeing models.
As of now, the airline has 60 Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet. Out of these 60 jets, 49 are Boeing 737 New Generation jets. Rest 11 are the new generation MAX jets. The airline will take delivery of 4 more Boeing 737 MAX soon with registration as following :
