SpiceJet Flight to Ayodhya Airport
On January 21, budget carrier SpiceJet has planned a special flight between Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) and Ayodhya Maharishi Valmiki International Airport (AYJ). This is expected to be a charter flight. It will mark the first landing of SpiceJet at the airport located in the Holy City of Ayodhya.
Demand is expected to peak on January 22. As a result of this, SpiceJet has planned an additional flight. To remind you, this is a special charter flight, not a regular scheduled flight. It is planned for the special flight from Delhi to leave at 1:30 PM and arrive in Ayodhya at 3 PM. The next day’s return flight is scheduled to take off at 5 PM and land in Delhi at 6:30 PM.
Managing Director of SpiceJet, Ajay Singh said: For every Indian, the ‘Pran Pratishta’ ceremony at the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya is a source of great pride. We are fortunate to be here to witness this momentous occasion. SpiceJet is dedicated to providing every customer a smooth and effective travel experience, and it is truly honored to be a part of connecting devotees attending this historic event.
Regular Flights When?
In the recently concluded Annual General Meeting (AGM), the airline’s Managing Director stated that it has plans to start regular flights to Ayodhya Airport and Lakshadweep Islands. The airline, in a statement, said that it will soon start regular flights from Ayodhya Airport connecting the city to various Indian destinations.
This maiden flight will land just one day before the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The Pran Pratishta ceremony of the Temple of Lord Rama is scheduled for January 22. There is a huge crowd expected in Ayodhya in this city as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other dignitaries will estalish the idol of Lord Rama in the temple.
Network Expansion Soon
On January 10, SpiceJet concluded its Annual General Meeting. In this meeting, the plan to use the Rs 2,250 crore funding was discussed. In December 2023, SpiceJet got approval from its shareholders to raise this funding by issuing equity shares and warrants. The airline will raise Rs 2,250 crore in two tranches by issuing equity shares & warrants to 63 companies.
The majority of this funding will be used to bring back 25 aircraft back to operational status. Currently, the aircraft are grounded because of a lack of spare parts and a cash crunch. The airline will utilize some amount to clear its dues and liabilities. It is tackling many petitions in the Delhi High Court. As more aircraft become operational, the airline will add more destinations and increase frequency on current routes.
