SpiceJet: Entry into Ayodhya
Budget carrier SpiceJet has announced its grand entry into Ayodhya Maharishi Valmiki International Airport. The airline will connect the airport to three Indian cities – Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai. The airline will be an exclusive operator on the Ayodhya to Chennai route. Notably, this will be the longest domestic route for Ayodhya Airport, for the time being.
SpiceJet’s Chief Commercial Officer, Shilpa Bhatia, said, “We are pleased to announce the start of nonstop flights linking Ayodhya to Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. These new flights coincide with our commitment to improving connectivity and offering passengers convenient travel options. SpiceJet is committed to connecting additional Indian cities with Ayodhya shortly, offering non-stop flights for a seamless and comfortable travel experience.”
Let’s have a look at all the routes in a detailed manner:

Surprisingly, the airline has avoided flights from Delhi Airport. SpiceJet will be the exclusive operator on the Ayodhya to Chennai route. However, on the Bengaluru and Mumbai routes, there is some competition. IndiGo, from 15th January, will connect Ayodhya to Mumbai with daily flights. Meanwhile, SpiceJet will start thrice weekly Bengaluru flights with effect from 17th January.
With these SpiceJet flights, Ayodhya Airport will have a total of 6 Indian cities on its route map: Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai. SpiceJet will operate its maiden flight to Ayodhya Airport on January 21 from Delhi. This will be a special charter flight for the Lord Rama Idol Consecration Ceremony.
