Royal Jordanian Airlines, the flag carrier of Jordan has increased its Boeing 787 widebody order from 2 to 6. In this edition of Dubai Air Show, the airline signed purchase agreement for additional 4 Boeing 787.
Royal Jordanian Boeing 787 order
Jordan’s flag carrier, Royal Jordanian Airlines has placed an order for 4 more Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jets. The airline already operates a fleet of 7 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner jets. Currently, it has no Boeing 787-9 variant in its fleet.

Apart from the purchase agreement, Boeing Global Services will also provide modification services for Royal Jordanian’s in service Boeing 787 jets. According to the Commercial Market Outlook of Boeing companies, it has been predicted that the Middle Eastern region will need 3,025 commercial planes by 2042. Nearly half of this number will be widebody aircraft.
Increasing confidence
Royal Jordanian Airlines was one of the first in the region to start operating the Boeing 787 jet.
Samer Majali, the CEO of Royal Jordanian Airlines said : “Our choice to include the 787-9 Dreamliners in our fleet is a testament to our dedication to providing an unmatched travel experience. This action is in perfect harmony with our larger fleet modernization strategy. In this, the airline is prioritizing passenger comfort & sustainability.”

Amman’s connections to major international destinations have been successfully established by the airline’s current fleet of seven 787-8 Dreamliners. The extra order demonstrates Royal Jordanian’s visionary mindset and dedication to satisfying the expanding demand for long-haul travel.”
Boeing 787-9 is a very efficient widebody aircraft which can seat around 296 passengers. It has a range of 14,010 kilometres. With this, the airline will be able to add capacity to those routes currently operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
