Air India more announcements
Air India in an event in Delhi revealed its new livery. The event was broadcasted live on YouTube. The airline revealed its new logo, new interiors and new livery. TATA Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran and Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson were present during the ceremony. Along with the livery reveal, the airline made some announcements. Lets have a look at each of them in detail :
Before the reveal, a lot was being talked about the all time brand ambassador of Air India – The Maharaja. Some reports said that the airline will dispose the mascot, while others were saying that Maharaja will remain but with a separate role. Some were also hinting at inclusion of a female mascot in the airline’s ambassadorship.
However, Air India Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson has given full clarity as he revealed that Maharaja is here to stay with the same role, which it is playing since inception. The mascot was designed in 1946 by Umesh Rao and Bobby Kooka.
Royalty Program and Interiors
The airline has an all new Royalty program on the cards, which it will announce in coming days. As not much was revealed about the new Royalty Program, lets move to the very interesting section i.e. the new interiors. Because a lot has been revealed about the interiors.
Our partner account JetArena some days ago reported that Ratan Tata visited Air India Headquarters to finalize the cabin interiors. Air India now has revealed the interiors. It has revealed the new cabin interiors on the Boeing 777-300ER fleet. First refurbished aircraft to enter into service in second half of 2024.
The new interiors consists of 4 cabins : First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class. The layout is as follows :
- 1-2-1 in First Class
- 1-2-1 in Business Class
- 2-4-2 in Premium Economy Class
- 3-4-3 in Economy Class
10 abreast Economy class seating does not sound good but there are various factors which comes to play. So, it would be better to wait until the first aircraft rolls out into the fleet.
What about the Air India Express fleet? Air India Express is expecting a fleet of 55 Boeing 737 MAX (ex-Chinese carriers) arriving by March 2024. The big question is that what about livery on Air India Express aircraft? Currently, Air India Express Boeing 737 features separate tail-art on each aircraft. The 2 latest inductions are flying in white tail livery. In the CGI renders, the airline has not shown Boeing 737 MAX in Air India livery.
Will the new aircraft be painted in Air India livery or some new livery will be announced for Air India Express as well? Only time will tell.
