Kenya national airline, Kenya Airways partners with Lufthansa Technik to get the components of the airline’s widebody aircraft. With this partnership, the airline is aiming to reduce its dependence on global supply chain situation.
Kenya Airways partners with Lufthansa Technik
Kenya Airways, one of the biggest airlines of the African continent has partnered with Lufthansa Technik to get the spare parts and components for the airline’s Boeing 787 fleet. Lufthansa Technik is the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) wing of German carrier, Lufthansa Airlines.
Kenya Airways operates a fleet of 9 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. With this aircraft, the airline operates non-stop flights to various international destinations like New York (JFK), London Heathrow (LHR), Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris (CDG), Guangzhou , etc.
Less dependence on supply chain
Travel demand has returned strongly. In this time, the airline needs almost all aircraft specially the wodebody fleet to be in the air. There is a worldwide supply shortage of some raw materials which directly affects the availibility of aircraft spare parts.
The airline wants to be independent of all this and hence, it has partnered with the MRO wing of German Airline Lufthansa. This makes the airline less dependent on the global supply chain issues.
This collaboration between Kenya Airways and Lufthansa Technik will enable the airline to maximise the operational efficiency.
Lufthansa Technik VP Corporate sales Europe, Middle East and Africa, Kai-Stefan Roepke said that with the help of our worldwide spread network, the airline will be able to get spare parts for its Dreamliner despite the global supply chain issues. The engineering firm is looking forward to support the Kenyan Flag carrier to ramp up its Dreamliner usage.
