It was 20th November 2019, when last Boeing 787 Dreamliner was delivered to Juneyao Airlines. On 21st December, 2023, the airline received delivery of its next Dreamliner after a period of 4 years.
Juneyao Airlines Boeing 787 Delivery
Shanghai headquartered Juneyao Airlines currently have a fleet of 7 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. 3 Dreamliners were delivered in 2018 and other 3 were delivered in 2019. After this, Federal Aviation Administration restricted Boeing Commercial to deliver any Dreamliner globally because of an error detected in aircraft’s forward pressure bulkhead. After 4 years, Juneyao Airlines has received its next Dreamliner.
On 21st December 2023, Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner registered as B-20EQ departed from Seattle Paine Field International Airport at 07:10 PM UTC. It touched down at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 08:25 AM UTC.
This airframe with Manufacturer Serial Number MSN 65431 conducted first flight on 21 August 2020. 2 General Electric GEnX-1B engines power this aircraft. It is 3.3 years old. Juneyao Airlines configures all its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jets with 29 Business class and 295 Economy Class seats.
Delivery after 4 Years
An Aviation Industry Analyst Lin Zhijie said that this new delivery indicates that Boeing has restored its delivery capability for the 787 Dreamliner series. International travel from China is gradually recovering, and this new delivery adds as a new milestone. In this year, Chinese Airports is expected to handle a total of 620 million passengers. Comparing this to last year, it is 146 percent higher.
Peter Gao, Vice President for Boeing Commercial Sales and Marketing department in China said that this is the 7th Boeing 787 delivery to Juneyao Airlines. The airline wants to increase its international presence and the planemaker will continue to support the airline in doing so.
President of Juneyao Airlines, Wang Junjin said that the airline has finally taken a delivery after a pause of 3 years. This aircraft will ensure the sufficient capacity growth for growing on international long haul routes.
By the end of year 2024, Juneyao Airlines is aiming to take delivery of 10 Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes. With this capacity influx, the airline is expected to launch some international destinations connecting Mainland China to cities in Europe and America.
In April 2024, the airline will launch non-stop flights between Shanghai and Athens in Greece. One month ago, the airline launched direct flights connecting Zhengzhou to Milan Malpensa. The route is currently operated twice weekly with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
