Japan Airlines has received the delivery of its first ever Airbus A350-1000 widebody aircraft. The airline has 2 more aircraft in production for delivery. In this article, we will look at the details of the aircraft delivery & about the aircraft.
1st Airbus A350-1000 for Japan Airlines
On 14th December, first Airbus A350-1000 of Japan Airlines, which bears the registration JA01WJ was ferried from Toulouse to Haneda for delivery to the airline. This Airbus A350-1000 will be used to operate the Haneda to New York JFK route.
Japan Airlines has 13 Airbus A350-1000 jets on order. Currently, 2 more Airbus A35X jets are under production. One is MSN 628, which will be registered as JA02WJ & other is MSN 635 which will be registered as JA03WJ.
The aircraf features 6 suites in First Class cabin, 54 Business class seats, 24 Premium Economy and 155 Economy class seats.
The 6 first class seats features a feel like a luxury hotel room. The large adjustable sofa can convert into single or double bed.
The Business class seats features fully private rooms. This is the first time that the airline is doing so. There is a large 24 inch monitor as In-flight entertainment system.
Premium Economy class seats features a 4K monitor which is 1.3 times bigger than previous models. There are a total fo 24 Premium Economy class seats.
Economy class seats features 13 inch 4K monitor, the largest offered in Economy class cabin. It includes Bluetooth connectivity.
This first Airbus A350-1000 is a premium heavy aircraft and hence, it has decided to deploy this aircraft on a Tier-1 higher yield route. The airline will use this aircraft to deploy on Tokyo Haneda to New York JFK route from 24 January onwards. The airline is yet to announce a proper schedule. Japan Airlines operates twice daily on this route. Currently, the airline is operating this route with the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Just like the Airbus A350-1000, the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER also features four class cabin with 8 First class, 49 Business class, 40 Premium Economy and 147 Economy class seats.
Japan Airlines ordered 31 Airbus A350 jets, with a mix of 18 Airbus A350-900s and 13 Airbus A350-1000 jets. The airline introduced its first Airbus A350-900 into commercial service in 2019. It has taken delivery of 16 Airbus A350-900 jets till date & 1 more is currently under production.
