IndiGo, the leading Low-Cost Carrier of the South Asian region has unveiled its ambitious plans to start direct flights connecting the City of Pearls, Hyderabad to the vibrant Thai Capital, Bangkok. The airline aims to enhance connectivity and provide passengers with more travel options on this route.
IndiGo: Hyderabad to Bangkok
From 26 February, IndiGo will commence non-stop service between Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK). The airline will operate daily flights utilizing its flagship aircraft – the Airbus A320neo. IndiGo Airbus A320neos are configured in two different layouts – one with 180 seats and the other with 186 seats.
IndiGo will become the first airline to start serving on this route. It aims to provide a seamless travel experience between both the major tourist hubs. Here are the route timings:
IndiGo, Head of Global Sales, Vinay Malhotra announced this route. He said that this route perfectly aligns with the airline’s ambitions to grow its network in the Southeast Asian region. With the introduction of this route, IndiGo will be operating 57 times a week between India and Thailand. Out of these, 37 flights are operated to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, and the remaining 20 are catered by Phuket International Airport. This new route will act as a bridge between the two culturally rich cities.
IndiGo Network Expansion
With this route addition, IndiGo will be connecting Hyderabad to a total of 14 international destinations. Within a year, the airline connected Hyderabad to 6 new international destinations. On 19th January, it connected Hyderabad to Dammam with daily flights. The air connectivity between both cities skyrocketed from 0 to 14X weekly as both IndiGo and Air India Express started daily services on the same day.
In 2022, IndiGo connected Hyderabad RGIA to 8 international destinations. Now, it is connecting the airport to 14 international airports. It added flights to Dammam, Riyadh, Jeddah, and Singapore, among others.
Talking about Bangkok Network, IndiGo connects Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Bhubaneswar to the Thai Capital. Hyderabad is the airline’s sixth connection to Bangkok.
Competition in the HYD-Bangkok Sector
The Hyderabad to Bangkok route is currently served by two Thailand-based airlines – Thai Airways and Nok Air. Thai Airways operates daily service between Bangkok (BKK) & Hyderabad. The airline utilizes its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner for this route. Thai B788s features 24 Business and 240 Economy Class seats.
Nok Air operates flights from Don Mueang International Airport. This airline operates thrice weekly flights using the Boeing 737. Nok Air started flight operations to Hyderabad on 19th February 2023 with an initial four times-a-week frequency. Later, it downgraded the route to thrice weekly.
