India’s largest airline – IndiGo is all set to introduce flights between Pune and Hubli. We can call it a reinstatement of flights as the airline operates it like a seasonal route. IndiGo is already an exclusive scheduled operator at Hubli Airport and with this addition, it is enhancing its presence.
IndiGo: Pune to Hubli
The largest Low-Cost Carrier in the Indian subcontinent has announced its plans to return on the Pune to Hubli route. With effect from 2 February, the airline will connect both cities with four times weekly flights. The airline will operate these flights on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The airline will utilize its regional workhorse, the ATR 72 for this route. IndiGo has a total of 44 ATR 72 jets in its fleet. They are configured with 78 seats in all economy configuration.
Talking about the route timings, the aircraft departs Hubli Airport at 17:00 hrs and arrives at Pune International Airport at 18:00 hrs. After this one-hour duration, the aircraft has a turnaround time of 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, it will depart Pune Airport at 18:30 hrs and return to Pune Airport at 19:30 hrs.
This news was brought to the public domain by no one other than the former President of the Maratha Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA). He announced these flights through his Twitter profile. He thanked the airline for providing more connections from Pune Airport.
6E Hubli Operations
It is rare in India that an airport is exclusively operated by a single airline. Hubli is one of those rare airports. IndiGo is the exclusive operator from Hubli Airport. No other airline operates from here.
This route from Pune to Hubli was originally started by the airline in February 2023. The airline initially started with a twice-weekly frequency. Looking at the route potential, it decided to upgrade the frequency to daily flights from March month. As seasonality kicked in, the airline stopped operations. Now, it is coming back with four times weekly flights.
IndiGo currently connects Hubli Airport to 5 major Indian cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai. Flights to Delhi, Mumbai & Hyderabad are operated on a daily basis. Bengaluru route is a heavy traffic route, hence, the airline operates twice daily on this route.
Additionally, Chennai flights are operated thrice weekly. The airline has based its few ATR 72 aircraft at Hubballi, as the airport is exclusively served by the airline’s ATR fleet.
