India’s leading airline, IndiGo has announced its schedule to start non-stop flights to Jaisalmer and Khajuraho. Jaisalmer will be the 81th domestic destination for the airline.
IndiGo domestic expansion continues
In its vast domestic network, IndiGo will add two more Indian cities from October this year. These new destinations are Jaisalmer and Khajuraho. The airline will connect Jaisalmer to 4 Indian cities from October. Meanwhile, Khajuraho will be connected directly to Varanasi. The route will be extended all the way to Delhi. This means that after the introduction of this flights, IndiGo will be operating to 81 domestic destinations. Overall, it equates to 113 destinations. A boost to Tourism
Jaisalmer is located in the state of Rajasthan. It is often termed as the Golden City and is known for its desert landscape and cultural heritage. There was various tourist sites at Jaisalmer like the Sonar Quila. There are many ancient temples and palaces, which makes Jaisalmer a perfect tourist destination.
Talking about Khajuraho, unlike Jaisalmer, it is located in Madhya Pradesh. Khajuraho is a group of ancient temples. The Chandela dynasty constructed these temples between the 9th and 12th centuries. Elaborately carved sculptures are a hallmark of this place’s fame. Khajuraho Group of Monuments is a UNESCO ceritifed World Heritage Site. Art and culture are in the veins of Khajuraho.

IndiGo : Jaisalmer & Khajuraho Schedule
First, let us look at the schedule from Khajuraho Airport.
The airline will connect Khajuraho Airport (HJR) to Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) via Varanasi Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (VNS). It will operate daily flights with the Airbus A320neo aircraft.
6E2361 : Departs Delhi at 11:20 and arrives at Varanasi at 12:40
6E2361 : Departs Varanasi at 13:15 and arrives at Khajuraho at 14:25
6E2232 : Departs Khajuraho at 15:00 and arrives at Varanasi at 16:15
6E2232 : Departs Varanasi at 17:00 and arrives at Delhi at 18:20
Initially, the airline will connect Delhi to Jaisalmer with effect from 12 October. Later, from October 29, it will connect Jaisalmer to Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. It will operate all flights daily. The airline will deploy the Airbus A320neo aircraft on Delhi & Mumbai to Jaisalmer route. Meanwhile, ATR 72-600 aircraft will operate flights from Ahmedabad and Jaipur to Jaisalmer. As of now, bookings from Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad is available. Booking from Jaipur will be available from October 12.

IndiGo Head of Global Sales, Vinay Malhotra said that this new route from Khajuraho to Varanasi and Delhi will provide easy access to the most appealing temple towns of India. This route will provide more choices to travellers, specially looking at the fact that festival season is coming. For Jaisalmer, he said that by connecting these cities to Jaisalmer, the airline is also aiming to provide east access to neighbouring towns in Rajasthan.
