FlyDubai, the sister airline of Emirates has surprisingly placed a Boeing widebody order. The airline since inception has been dependent on narrow body Boeing 737 aircraft for operations. Now, the management is looking to try something new by foraying into the widebody market segment.
FlyDubai goes the Boeing 787 way
During the ongoing Dubai Airshow, Dubai-based FlyDubai placed a surprisingly order. The all narrowbody operator placed an order for 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jets. The state-of-the-art widebody aircraft, Boeing 787-9, is capable of flying to long-haul destinations for the airline. The airline will use this aircraft to open up new long haul routes. Futhermore, it will allow the airline to add capacity across its short haul & medium haul network. The deal for 30 Dreamliners has been valued at $11 billion.
