4 airlines consisting of Aerolineas Argentinas, Andes, JetSmart and FlyBondi have joined the Fair Prices Program. Under this program, airlines increase the ticket prices by only 4% and not more than that.
On Wednesday, Argentina’s Minister of Economy and presidential candidate for Union for the Fatherland, Sergio Massa announced on Twitter that after meeting with the representatives of the chambers of air transport companies, this decision was taken. Secretary of Commerce Matias Tombolini accompanied him.
Fair Prices Program
Under this, the 4 airlines cannot increase increase ticket prices beyond 4%. The agreement will come into effect from August 1 and will remain until November 30. With a minimal increase in airfares, Aregentinian people can easily fly from one destination to others on cheaper tickets.
Furthermore, the airlines will have to provide a discount of 15% to all the retired people. The airlines will have to report monthly price changes to the Ministry of Commerce, who will oversee compliance with the agreement.
In the meeting, discussions of reaching 30 million passengers in 4 years also happened. The Minister said that the government is expecting transportation of 16 million passengers domestically and internationally in this year. The government will continue to contribute the aviation market.
