If you belong to Jabalpur or Adampur or even the adjoining regions, there is a good news for you as Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiradiya Scindia has assured that both cities will get enhanced connections in coming time.
Aviation Minister : More Flights from Jabalpur & Adampur
Former Member of Parliament from Jabalpur wrote a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia asking him to intervene as there are very less flights operating from Jabalpur despite having good demand. In reply, Civil Aviation Minister announced that Jabalpur is all set to be connected to Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai from next month. Airline selected for this task is SpiceJet. The Minister has assured enhanced connectivity from the airport.
The relationship between Jabalpur and SpiceJet is similar to a broken marriage. Before March 2023, the airline was operating many flights out of Jabalpur. It connected Jabalpur to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru. Suddenly, from March 2 to March 17, it cancelled the flight bookings. It said that these are temporary network changes. But the airline never returned to Jabalpur. Now, it is eyeing a return. This case is similar of how SpiceJet abandoned all operations from Belagavi and Kushinagar Airport.
Adampur Airport Set to Resume Operations
A new regional airport is getting ready in Punjab State. The terminal building of Adampur Airport will soon be fully constructed. With this, the airport will be able to resume operations after a long wait. Local Member of Parliament asked Mr Scindia about flights from the airport.
In reply, Scindia said that SpiceJet is all set to start services from Adampur Airport. As soon as the passenger terminal construction work is completed, the airport will be ready to host customers. It is expected to be ready and running by next month. After completing few formalities, SpiceJet will start operating from the airport.
In Punjab, Adampur Airport (IATA: AIP, ICAO: VIAX) serves the cities of Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur as well as being a domestic airport and Indian Air Force base. It is situated in the Jalandhar district, 6.7 km from Adampur town, 28 km from Jalandhar, and 27 km from Hoshiarpur. It’s right next to NH-3. It serves both Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar since it is located right between them. The Doaba region of Punjab needed the airport to support commercial operations because the state’s other two major airports, Amritsar and Chandigarh, are located 100 and 145 kilometers away, respectively.
