China Airlines and Philippine Airlines are going one step ahead in enhancing their partnership. Both the airlines have expanded their codeshare agreement to provide passengers with adequate options to enhance and easify travel between both the countries.
China Airlines and Philippine Airlines expands codeshare
National carrier airlines of Taiwan and Philippine, China Airlines and Philippine Airlines were already codesharing on 1 route. The route was Taipei to Manila.
With this expansion, the current codeshare goes up all the way to 8 routes. Details as follows :
China Airlines will fly on following routes :
- Taipei to Manila
- Manila to Taipei
- Taipei to Cebu
- Cebu to Taipei
- Kaohsiung to Manila
- Manila to Kaohsiung
And Philippine Airlines will operate this following routes :
- Manila to Cebu
- Cebu to Manila
- Manila to Davao
- Davao to Manila
- Manila to lloilo
- lloilo to Manila
- Cebu to Davao
- Davao to Cebu
- Cebu to lloilo
- lloilo to Cebu
For Taiwan Airlines, this is a strategic move to increase its presence in Southeast Asian region.
Vice President of Philippine Airlines Bud Britanico said that the airline is keen to serve the enhancing demand between both countries fuelled by visa-free arrangements. The partnership will continue to be strong with China Airlines. We will continue to offer more courteous access to tourists from Philippines to visit Taiwan.
Cebu is a destination where there is traffic from both – business and leisure market. Kaohsiung, the port city is a economic hub and a home to many overseas workers.
Vice President of Corporate Development at China Airlines Jeremy Chang said that as part of the Southeast Asian Network expansion, China Airlines has been focusing on the Philippine Market since long time ago. In the end of 2022, the new Airbus A321neo was introduced on Taipei to Cebu route enhancing customer experience. This latest expansion of code-share agreement will not only enhance collaboration between both airlines but also promote business and leisure tourism between both the countries.
