Azul Linhas Aereas order
The Barueri headquartered airline had signed a purchase agreement with Airbus in June 2023. At that time, this order was undisclosed. Now, the airline has publically announced it. The airline aims to expand its fleet size and international route network with the delivery of these fuel efficient jets.
The Airbus A330neo is the latest widebody aircraft from Airbus. With its state-of-the-art Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330-900 can travel 13,300 km / 7,200 nm nonstop.
By the end of November 2023, the A330 Family was the most popular widebody family in the world, controlling the short- and medium-haul widebody market with over 1,800 firm orders from over 130 customers worldwide.
The award-winning Airspace cabin on the A330neo provides passengers with an exceptional comfort. A larger overhead bin, improved lighting, additional personal space, and access to the newest in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems are all part of this.
Azul Linhas Aereas Chief Financial Officer Alexandre Malfitani said that we are proud to disclose this order publically. He added – Being the airline in the area with the most fuel-efficient fleet—more than 80% of our capacity is derived from next-generation aircraft—we are pleased. We will standardize our international fleet with the five A330neos we currently fly and the seven we have ordered, enabling us to further improve Azul’s well-known on-time performance and customer experience.
Azul Airlines currently operates a fleet of 5 Airbus A330neos. The airline received 1st A330-900 in May 2019 & the latest was delivered on 18th December 2020.
More confidence in A330
Airbus Chief Commercial Officer Christian Scherer said : Azul’s reaffirmed faith in the A330neo highlights, once again, how the aircraft’s performance and economics are really differentiating the widebody strategy that helps Azul outperform the competition. On every long-haul flight Azul operates on its appealing, rapidly expanding network, travelers have nothing but praise for the roomy, best-in-class cabin experience. Azul plans to fully utilize the unique commonality between Airbus’s A330 and A320 Family fleets.
In the latin American region, Airbus has sold more than 1,150 aircraft. More than 750 are currently operations and 500 are yet to be delivered. Since 1994, Airbus has secured 75% of net orders in the region.
