Following the footsteps of IndiGo, Air India Express, and SpiceJet, one more airline has announced its schedule to start flights from the Ayodhya Maharishi Valmiki International Airport. Akasa Air has opened flight bookings for routes connecting Ayodhya Airport to Delhi and Pune.
Akasa Air: Pune to Ayodhya via Delhi
India’s youngest airline Akasa Air is all set to venture into Ayodhya Airport. From 15 February, the airline will be connecting Pune to Ayodhya via Delhi Airport. The airline will operate daily flights utilizing the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
At Delhi Airport, passengers will not need to change their aircraft. Even if it is a one-stop, the airline is providing exclusive connections between Pune and Ayodhya. Passengers can book flights from the airline’s website, android or iOS app, or through other Online Travel Agencies.
As per the airline’s press statement, this route aligns with the commitment to expand its domestic network and provide passengers with more options at afforable prices. The flights will be operated during the daytime in prime hours to enhance passenger convenience. Here are the flight timings:
The commencement of operations at Ayodhya International Airport will mark the start of the 18th domestic destination for Akasa Air. The airline is in preparation to start flights to international destinations. It has appointed travel agents in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Praveen Iyer, the Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air announced this new destination. He said that the airline was set up to connect people, their cultures, and regions. The addition of Ayodhya to the airline’s network map is another proof of that commitment.
Ayodhya is a spiritual city with a huge religious and cultural importance. By connecting the city to Delhi & Pune, the airline is aiming to bolster economic growth, trade, and regional development. It is committed to providing passengers with more affordable travel options.
Akasa Air is rapidly expanding its network. On December 15, the airline launched daily flights connecting Chennai Airport to Port Blair. In Qatar and Saudi Arabia, it has appointed General Sales Agents to foray into the country’s aviation sector. Space Travel and Al-Maha United Travel have been selected as Akasa Air’s GSA in Qatar & Saudi Arabia respectively.
150 Boeing 737 MAX Ordered
In Wings India 2024, Akasa Air placed an order of 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. With this, the airline has increased its order book from 76 to 226. It has become the fastest Indian airline to have an order book equating double century. The airline achieved this feat within 17 months. These aircraft will be delivered to Akasa Air till 2032 and will be used for domestic and international expansion.
Since its launch in August 2022, the airline has catered to more than 63 lakh passengers. It provides various unique features like ample legroom, USB ports on each seat, Cafe Akasa, and pets onboard. It also has a braille menu and safety manual to enhance inclusivity for eye-sight-challenged individuals.
Raining Flights at Ayodhya Airport
Four airlines have announced their schedules to start flights from Ayodhya Maharishi Valmiki International Airport. Out of these, IndiGo & Air India Express have already started commercial operations. IndiGo currently connects Ayodhya to Delhi, Mumbai & Ahmedabad. Air India Express does the same to Delhi, Kolkata & Bengaluru.
SpiceJet is set to make the biggest entry, as the airline will be connecting Ayodhya airport to 8 Indian cities. It will operate flights from Ayodhya Airport to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru & Ahmedabad utilizing the Boeing 737. Flights to Jaipur, Darbhanga & Patna will be operated using the 90-seater Dash 8 Q400 turboprop aircraft. SpiceJet will start flight operations with effect from February 1.
