India’s youngest airline in terms of age, Akasa Air has appointed a General Sales Agent (GSA) in Qatar. The airline will soon start international flights. The first phase includes four destinations in the Middle East.
Qatar: Akasa Air Appoints GSA
Late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala backed Akasa Air has signed a General Sales Agreement with Space Travel in Qatar. Space Travel is now the official General Sales Agent of Akasa Air in Qatar. It is the General Sales Arm of Mannai Travel Group.
Space Travel, a subsidiary of Mannai Travel and Mannai Corporation, a public limited business founded in 1988, serves as a General Sales Agent for several foreign airlines that operate out of Qatar. Space Travel now represents FlyDubai, Kenya Airways, and Philippine Airlines.
It will be an integral and strategic partner to Akasa Air. It will help the airline to launch flights to Qatar and expand its reach among customers in the country.

Akasa Air International Entry
Akasa Air acquired its 20th aircraft in August 2023. As per the country rules, the airline became eligible for International operations. In September, it officially received its International Air Operator Permit from DGCA. The airline said that in the initial phase, it will start flights to 4 destinations in the Middle East: Riyadh, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Doha. As per slot reports, the airline has bagged 1X daily slots at Dubai International Airport. There are rumors that it will start daily flights between Kannur & Dubai.

Three Digit Aircraft Order
On January 18, Wings India Airshow 2024 will start. In this airshow event, Akasa Air is expected to place a mega order of around 150 Boeng 737 MAX 8 jets. This news was earlier reported by Reuters and later confirmed by other publications.
The airline placed its first order in October 2021 during the Dubai Airshow. It ordered 72 Boeing 737 MAX along with engines. In June 2023, it extended the order for four more B737 MAX jets. Currently, it has a fleet of 22 aircraft. It will receive delivery of 50 more aircraft within a period of next 4 years.
The airline started operations in August 2022. Since its inception, it has handled more than 6.3 million passengers. The current domestic market of the airline includes flights to 17 Indian cities. In August 2023, it became the fastest global airline to have a fleet of 20 aircraft. In September, it received AOP to start international flights.
