National Airline of India, Air India is all set to start more flights to United States of America with Boston and Los Angeles as the potential destinations. The airline flies to 5 airports in United States.
Air India to Boston & Los Angeles
As the airline gets ready to induct more widebody aircraft, it is also planning to start some long haul routes. The airline is looking to expand its coverage in United States of America. Although, it has a codeshare agreement with United Airlines, the airline wants to fly to the destinations with high demand.
As per a report of Indian Express, the airline is looking at Los Angeles and Boston as potential destinations.
Air India currently operates to 5 US airports :
- New York Newark Liberty International Airport
- New York John F. Kennedy International Airport
- Washington Dulles International Airport
- Chicago O’Hare International Airport
- San Francisco International Airport
The airline earlier used to operate to Los Angeles but dropped the route after it started non-stop flights to and from San Francisco.
Along with aircraft induction, Air India is also investing in workforce infrastructure. The airline has already started training pilots for the Airbus A350 fleet.
A source told the Indian Express that the airline is planning to expand its bases in United States of America. Various new destinations are on the cards. Boston and Los Angeles are one of the many potential destinations.
Recently, many Air India flights were affected due to cabin crew shortage and long delays in visa issue process.
The airline by the end of March 2024 is planning to induct 16 new widebody aircraft. This includes 6 Airbus A350-900, 1 Boeing 777-200LR and 9 Boeing 777-300ER. It will however the older Boeing 777-200LR fleet of 3 aircraft.
The airline recently placed an order for 70 widebody aircraft including 6 Airbus A350-900, 34 Airbus A350-1000, 20 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and 10 Boeing 777X.
