Air India Express, strengthening its domestic presence has announced its schedule to start flights connecting Bengaluru to 2 more Indian cities – Gwalior and Kozhikode. The flight to Gwalior will continue to Delhi and then to newly-built Ayodhya International Airport.
Air India Express expansion from Bengaluru
Air India Express which is constantly adding to its domestic network has announced addition of two more routes in its network. The airline since new identity reveal has been expanding like a tracer bullet. In this month itself, it has received delivery of 5 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. However, this aircraft are yet to be painted but yes, 5 deliveries in a month is an impressive milestone.
Since new identity roll-out, the airline has been increasing its network from Bengaluru. Air India Express will soon connect Bengaluru to 2 more Indian cities – Kozhikode and Gwalior.
The historic city of Gwalior, which is situated in central India, is well-known for its old fort, Gwalior Fort. With its magnificent palaces, temples, and the well-known Gwalior Fort perched atop a hill and providing expansive views of the surroundings, this city is known for its rich cultural legacy.
Known for its calm beaches and historical significance, Kozhikode is a coastal city in the southern state of Kerala. It boasts a lively culture that has been affected by many civilizations and was once a significant trading hub. Kozhikode is renowned for its mouthwatering regional food, particularly the classic Malabar delicacies.
Bengaluru to Gwalior flight
Along with Bengaluru, the airline will connect Gwalior to Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport as well. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 will be based at Bengaluru Airport. The aircraft will start its journey from Bengaluru Airport and will reach Gwalior Airport. From there, it will continue to Ayodhya Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport.
Flights will start from January 16. The airline will operate daily flights on this route. The aircraft routing is expected to be as follows :
Bengaluru – Gwalior – Delhi – Ayodhya – Delhi – Gwalior – Bengaluru

This promise is symbolised by the start of services from Gwalior to Bengaluru and New Delhi. In addition to these direct flights, we are connecting Gwalior to 21 important locations via easy one-stop routes that pass through Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and New Delhi. Additionally, the flight from New Delhi to Gwalior gives the residents of Gwalior easy access to the city of Ayodhya.
This will be the 2nd and 3rd addition from Gwalior Airport. The airline earlier launched services from Gwalior Airport on November 28 connecting it to Hyderabad.
Bengaluru to Kozhikode
On the same day that is January 16, Air India Express will commence one more service from Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport. It will launch daily flights between Bengaluru and Kozhikode. As expected, the Boeing 737 MAX will be deployed for this service.

Special thing about this routes being started by Air India Express is that almost all of them have complete monopoly of IndiGo. For instance, on Bengaluru-Kozhikode route, IndiGo operates 15 times weekly with a mix of Airbus A320 and ATR 72-600 fleet. It operates 8X weekly with Airbus A320 and 7X weekly with the turboprop aircraft.
“Bengaluru and Kozhikode stand as important stations within our extensive network, as Bengaluru commands the largest share of domestic flights and Kozhikode hosts the highest number of Air India Express international flights,” stated Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India Express. The launch of a direct flight between these two cities will enable easy one-stop routes to a variety of locations in India and the Middle East.
Currently, Air India Express operates its highest number of domestic flights from Bengaluru Airport. It connects the airport to these Indian cities : Kochi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kannur, Mangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Trivandrum and Varanasi.
