India’s national airline, Air India has started to reschedule the Boeing 777 aircraft again on Delhi to London Heathrow route. Before the delivery of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, the airline used to operate London Heathrow flights with the Boeing 777, which used to be the flagship aircraft of the airline.

India’a largest Full Service Carrier airline, Air India has made a major change in its Heathrow schedule from September this year. The airline as of now operates the Delhi to London Heathrow route with its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. It operates 17 times weekly with the 256 seater B788 Dreamliner. But this is going to change.
This information was at first picked up by LiveFromALounge. From 1 September, the airline will resume deployment of Boeing 777 aircraft on Delhi to London Heathrow route. The airline will use the recently inducted former Etihad Boeing 777 aircraft. The aircraft is registered as VT-AER and has been named Kriya. Air India has retained the Etihad interiors on this aircraft.

Air India last year signed lease agreement for 6 Boeing 777-200ERs. These aircraft are former Etihad aircraft. Due to supply chain constraints, Air India chose to retain the Etihad Airways cabin. Even on the Airbus A350, the airline will retain the Aeroflot interiors. Let us have a quick look at how the interior of Etihad aircraft look like.
Etihad aircraft are configured with 8 First class seats, 40 Business class seats and 280 Economy Class seats. Compared to Air India B777-300ERs, these aircraft are more premium heavy. Because Air India B77W have 4 First Class, 35 Business class and 303 Economy class seats.
Air India has introduced the Premium Economy seating on some routes by using the ex-Delta Boeing 777-200LRs. Moreover, the airline will also have the premium economy seating on the 3 Boeing 777-300ER it will receive from Singapore International Airlines (SIA).
Air India London Heathrow Schedule
Air India operates non-flights from Delhi IGI and Mumbai CSMIA to London Heathrow Airport. Table given below shows the frequency :
AI 111/112 will witness the Boeing 777 deployment. This marks a singificant development as Air India used to operate the Boeing 777 before to London Heathrow as well. The airline downgraded the service after it received the B788 Dreamliner deliveries.
Overall, the airline operates 17X weekly between Delhi & Heathrow and 14X weekly between Mumbai & Heathrow. The airline in March shifted its London operations from Goa, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Amritsar from Heathrow to Gatwick. Goa service has been interchanged from Dabolim to North Goa Mopa International Airport.
