Air India International Ops with A350
From January 22, Air India will start deploying this aircraft on domestic routes for crew familiarization purposes. It will operate scheduled flights between Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi.
Air India has intended its plans to deploy the Airbus A350 on international routes from mid-2024. Usually, when a new aircraft enters into service, airlines operate it on domestic routes initially. This is done in order to get an ample amount of pilots trained on it. For the same reason, Air India will be operating the Airbus A350 on domestic routes for the next 4-5 months.
The Airbus A350-900 comes with a range of 15,000 km, which is enough for Air India to operate non-stop flights to North America. In its updated route map, the airline recently included three more American destinations: Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas-Fort Worth, indicating the airline’s plans to enhance its presence in the American market.
Air India received delivery of the first Airbus A350-900 aircraft on December 23, 2023. This former Aeroflot airframe bears VT-JRA as registration. In January month, Air India will receive the delivery of the second Airbus A350, which has undergone soft interior modification in Toulouse. By May month, the airline will receive deliveries of 6 Airbus A350-900s.
